Dell's Windows Rinstallation CD

I recently encountered the blue screen of death stating "unmountable boot volume"

I did a little research and i believe that the cables are fine and i'm going to try and do a windows repair.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the dell windows reinstallation disk. Does it only touch windows and leave the rest of the drive alone? Does it mystically format the whole drive? what should I expect?

If you use the reinstallation disc it will return your computer to the same state as when you first got it. This means you will lose all your DATA and programs. If the disc gives you the option to repair (be careful) you can just reinstall your system files, and your data files will remain although sometimes you will still lose them
