Does anyone know if it will be possible to crossfire a HD3870 with either of the two new cards coming out. I thought I had heard it was going to be possible but can't confirm.
Thanks,

That is awesome. I may sell one of my 3870s to xfire a 4870 with it, when the 4870 comes out.

The original post only scored 3dmark06 of 14000. I score 18800 with my 2 3870s. I wonder what his other specs are.

The update on that link says that it is actually not possible to crossfire 3k series and 4k series. Not sure what is true though.

From the site:
ATI official

Despite previous reports on the internet that old Radeon 38x0 and new Radeon 48x0 cards will work in Crossfire together, unfortunately this won't happen.

Two senior software guys at ATI has just confirmed that 3800 series in Crossfire with 4800 won't work and that such configuration is not supported.

You won't be able to miss and match the generations and we are investigating if you should be able to mix the cards from 48x0 series. We believe you should but we won’t jump gun with this announcement.

Sorry for destroying one cool dream but you will have to sell or throw your 38x0 card and swap it for much faster 48x0 generation.

At the same time our friend W1zzard from tech power up has confirmed that he didn't make 3800 and 4800 generation to work in XP but now we know the answer why. It won't work on XP or Vista simply as its not supported.
