Nope, DDR2-800 is fast enough for FSB datarates up to 1600MHz, and the "faster" RAM is just normal RAM with a jacked-up voltage and jacked-up price. Make sure any RAM you buy is spec'd no higher than 1.9V.

Hey how do you like that ASUS P5Q PRO LGA 775 mob you have? I was thinking of buying that same motherboard.
I have it, its a nice board. Running 1600mhz FSB, 1:1 with RAM. It posted the first time, so I was very pleased with that. I managed to grab a coupon code for it, making the price $130, same as the P5Q.
My current mobo is a 650 i ultra and i have no complaints on it. I am gonna be starting another build and was interested in asus mobo's and i like what i heard on the reviews on that model and i am interested in buying one. Thanks for the response on the mobo doomturkey and good luck with your build hopkiller.

Hopkiller: AFAIK, no one makes DDR2/1200 bigger than 1 GB. I like that same G.Skill that you found; 2x2 GB for $75 with coupon and it's on Asustek's QVL for 4x2 sticks in a P5Q.
Mondoman: I'm looking at a P5Q Pro too. What memory did you put in yours? Did you OC?
Any views on P5Q-E or P5Q Deluxe? I can't figure out what's the difference besides fancier (looking) cooling.
in response to some earlier replies...why should the memory voltage spec be no more than 1.9v? if I have RAM that is spec-ed to 2.1v, can i choose to change that setting? is it backwards compatible automatically?
