I have a situation which is, there is a web server, connected to SAN storage, with H/W RAID 5 controller. And i'm in need of taking an image of the whole system to one hard disk and be able to run it from this storage and then check certain files.

So, I'd be grateful if someone helped me solve this problem.

Thank you in advance,
Sherif Mousa

on the software level all applications (including imaging applications etc like ghost) see RAID1, 0, 5 etc as a single HDD - aslong as your imaging application can see it it can image it etc - no dramas there

on the other hand if you are not able to access the machine you will not be able to image it (local only), and if you need just some files then just access it over the network?

I hope this is the info you need?

Hi,

you could :

Ghost you server from a bart pe cd (with raid driver) to the SAN.

However, to boot the server from the SAN, the SAN controller must be bootable.

Brad
