Hey guys,
I want to overclock RAM and processor on my computer (mainly I want to overclock RAM, but i heard that you have to overclock processor too), here are my specs (im using CPU - Z),
Memory :
Type - DDR2
Channels - Dual
Size - 512 MBytes
DRAM Frequency - 200mhz
FSB:DRAM - 1:1
CAS# Latency (CL) - 3 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) - 3 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) - 3 clocks
Cycle time (tRAS) 8 clocks

Processor :
Intel P4 530 Prescott
Socket 775 LGA
90nm
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00Ghz
Core speed - 3ghz
Multiplier - x 15
Bus speed - 200mhz
Rated FSB - 800mhz

Please explain if these components are overclockable or not, and also please tell me how to.
Also, I'm a total noob at overclocking, the only thing i have ever overclocked before is my graphics card using ATI tool, so please explain everything clearly :sol:
If you want any more information, just ask :)
I only want to overclock RAM to play Left 4 Dead and the minimum requirement for that is 1GB of RAM
Thanks,
Shadowlift

What motherboard do you have?
If it supports additional (or faster) memory, I'd just replace the 512mb you have in there. DDR2 ram is pretty cheap these days
also, what graphics card?

check your mobo supports 4gb.

you can get 2x2gb nowadays for £35

but a new gpu would help, a 4670 would be the most powerful without bottleneck and you'd need to oc to 4ghz so you'd need a new heatsink like a Xigmatek or thermalright. Those should be good enough to get you to 5 or 6ghz infact.

Pentium 4 dude it dont pay to oc that cpu the Pentium 4 is way outdated you need to upgrade to a dual core you can get a dual processor pretty cheap and you have the 775 slot if you insist on oc that cpu first you have to have a motherboard that supports overclocking then you would go into the bios and up the fsb and the voltage and there you go as far as the ram you just assume just buy you some 800 ram unless you go with the ddr3 then go get you some 2000 i dont recommend oc the ram it dont even help that much you really need to upgrade your whole system you outdated by far i know that is not what you wanted to hear but its the truth

In CPU-Z, what is listed as the make and model of your motherboard? Need to know this so we know what RAM is compatible with your system.

sorry to say but if i was you i would just sell your comp on ebay for like $100AU-$175 and build a new computer, and if you buget tight, just get:
CPU: E8400 $250 AU
Memory: 4gb ddr2 800mhz $100
GPU: 1gb 9600GT $140
the rest you can choose or what ever, it just pays you to do so.

The specs you have cant play that game overclocked or not! :(
