Hello all , just wanted to post my build before I order , wanted some people with more experience to help me out. I kinda slapped it together so bear with me. Im open to suggestions , I wanted to keep it under 1K , going to reuse all the basics , KB mouse monitor speakers and OS (home xp). Building it 95% for gaming.

Cant decide wether to go 2 or 4 core. I might overclok when I feel its getting sluggish. Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated , and if you see some futureproofing that needs adressed tell me. I see one already being the mobo missing another pcie 2.0 x16 slot.

It's almost entirely a matter of personal preference, but I would take the dual core Wolfdale over the quad core Kentsfield. Despite all the big talk from developers, games these days just don't utilize 4 cores effectively. A higher clocked dual core will almost always outperform a slower quad core in gaming as long as background tasks are kept to a minimum.

You could also consider the E7200 if you want to save a few bucks. That's a great budget overclocking processor.

One more thing, the HD4800s should be coming out soon (June 18th I think) and they are looking very good. I hate the waiting game as much as anyone, but we're talking just a couple of weeks here.
