what would be better to do buy 2 VelociRaptor 300GB 10,000rpm SATA II and raid them togetter in raid 0 or get 2 Kingston SSD 128Gb and raid them togetter in raid 0 there both the same price right now
Well, if you're looking for pure speed go for the Kingstons. They are faster and more reliable, but can hold less data. And don't forget, they're a lot more expensive than hard disks of equal capacity!
Are you sure? Average read-speeds for the Kingston V-series SSD are around 100mbps, which according to some reviews is lower than the Velociraptor (100mbps vs 109mbps on average). Of course Random Access drops significantly with the SSD. I think with the SSD's you'll see a slight increase in performance, but you'll also be missing a lot of the capacity you would have had with the Velociraptors. Write speeds are also a little lower on the SSD and in the future you may run in to bit-rot problems quicker than with the Velociraptor (unless that has been fixed on that particular SSD).
I average around 195mb/s RAID-0 with my Velocirpators in RAID-0
