will these parts work well together
and how will it do for playing games

Motherboard: GA-Ma790fx-ds5
CPU: AMD Phenom 9550
Memory: OCZ 2x1gb kit pc2-800mhz
Video: Evga 8800GT

It it work, but more information is needed. Is the video card G92?
What PSU?
Timings on the RAM?
Reason against using Intel?

why a highdollar crossfire board and an nVidia card?

I don't see any problems with it.
