Ok I have to decide what I want to do by half 5 tonight or else my order is going to be delayed.
Done so much reading and I really can't decide which to do. For the exact same price my new PC can ether have..
x2 512mb 8800GT's in SLI with 2Gb of High Performance RAM with heat spreader
OR
x1 1Gb 9800GTX with 4Gb of High Performance RAM with heat spreader
Now the SLi option seems to get better performance in games but SLI is also going to use more heat and power. I also read about some strange problems with V-sync etc.
4gb of ram would be much better, even at the expense of a slightly slower vga configuration. Some games will use more than 2gb of ram if it is available to improve performance.
The value of sli is dependent on the resolution you play at, and the games you play. Try to find some benchmarks for your exact situation.
I see the parts as generally comparable. If you can, get the EVGA 9800GTX because you might be able to "step-up" to the 9800GTX+ shows up in 90 days.

I have no idea how much you are paying to get a E8400 to 6ghz watercooled, if that is even possible. It would be better to go stock E8400 and spend more on the VGA configuration for the games you listed.

With the 1920x1080P TV your best performance without scaling will probably be gaming in a 1680x1050 window.
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/ will talk you through the issues of scaling vs 1:1 aspect ratio.
At 1680x1050 gaming resolution the difference between 512MB and 1GB versions of video cards isnt that important.
The X38/4870 combo sounds really attractive to me - except for the wait. I'd choose the 9800GTX and 4GB of RAM if you're in a hurry.
