Hello everybody, I am building a new system, and trying to decide what is the best mobo for my build?

I NEED A BOARD THAT WOULD BE ABLE TO ACCOMODATE ABOVE MENTIONED, BE EASY OVERCLOCKABLE, AND PRETTY RELIABLE. I WAS THINKING ABOUT ASUS PQ5 BOARDS, IS IT A GOOD CHOICE? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE MODEL OF THE BOARD SUCH AS DELUXE/ PREMIUM/ PRO/ WS/-E/
Actually I like the 680i boards or the p35 boards.....if that is in your budget range....as for overclocking....everything matters....cpu...board...memory.....certain boards clock better or worse depending on setup and memory selection
If you really want to take full advantage of a big, bad thing like the GTX 280, you should look for something with PCI-e 2.0 and SLI capabilities (this is more for futureproofing). one I like a lot is the XFX 780i http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813141005 of course, if you have the extra $100 to spare, then there is always the 790i, but I have seen little difference between the two short of the price tag.
As for the one you have posted, it is far from being a terrible component, but it wouldn't deliver the sort of performance you will want out of a gaming system. Overclocking on cheap boards is usually sluggish at best, that one has no SLI compatability, so you're stuck spending $400 on a new card in a few years instead of just using SLI to add another GTX 280, which by then will be much cheaper. You really do get what you pay for with budget boards. If you were trying to build the ultimate $500 gaming rig, then that one would be great, but your video card costs nearly that much, and you shouldn't let that get spoiled by cheap boards. Believe me, you'll want to just bite the bullet and spend a good $150+ on a descent SLI mobo.
But rampage is better for ati, if i am not mistaken. I am thinking about the 780I http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813141005, though reliability rating on it is not the best. What do you guys think about this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813188024 do they differ a lot? I am thinking since my gpu is going to be EVGA maybe the mobo should be EVGA as well? What are your thoughts on 9800gx2 and 280 gtx both 1 gb, is 280gtx the best one out yet? I didnt want to spend more than $200 for mobo. Is there anything decent up to $200?
I thank you all for taking time to reply to me!!!

They are referring to all caps.......that's shouting on a forum.....and the older 680i boards are much more stable than the 780....try 790 if you want nvidia....
I will probably stick with either p45 deluxe board or evga 780i. Sounds like x48 is a good chipset, but its good if you plan to crossfire and I never have been a big fan of ATI. Btw If I have a single card is which would have 2000mhz effective speed, and 670 mhz core clock, 1 gb and 2 cards with the same specs only the would be 2 X 512mb running SLI. Would I really feel the difference in fps amongs 1gb card and 2 X 512 cards?
i dotn know about your card, but sometimes higher numbers dont always add up to better performance.. some argue that some cards with large memories (like your 1gb card) dont even utilize all of the memory
simply put, sometimes, its a marketing scheme to get you to buy their "upgraded / more memory" cards
on that note, there are plenty of benchmarks out there ....
some single cards kills crossfire/sli setups
some crossfire/sli setups kills singl card setups
in my opinion, you should go crossfire with a x38/x48 board like gigabyte's GA-x48-dq6
and to answer your question, vaguely, i dont think there will be a huge difference for you to notice unless you use maximum resolutions (like upwards of 1900 x XXXX)
just search in the forums about crossfire/sli vs single card gpus... there are many posts and articles about them.... look at the benchmarks and you'll see
Thanks guys, the only thing i have a 40 inch LCD Monitor/tv so I am probably going to play with resolution of 1900 X **** I bought a samsung ln40a650 for $1400 not its time to build a gaming rig.
I was actually thinking about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130365 It probably should do the trick. My goal is to build a good gaming system that will be able to play all games on high and not to spend a fortune. Besides If i get 2 8800 gts i will also need around 100w psu which is around $200. At the end I will get more bang for a buck if I get a single videocard. Right now i have pentium 4 4ghz 2gb ddr400 membory 550w powersupply, 256 mb 6800 ultra and abit ai7 mobo. All of that just doesnt do the trick anymore. Plays Crysis but on low settings. So I am already certain that I am going with 1 videcard will wait 2 more weeks to see what 4870x2 is than if it is not much better will stick with 280 gtx. Mushkin ddr2 800 ram ocz 700w psu q6600 640gb wd harddrive and a blue ray burner maybe. As of now i am choosing between:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131297 =====================================
the only thing that bothers about 780i, is that people complain that the voltage is not stable on the cpu when overclocking.
I'd stay away from the 280...way too overpriced for what you get.........I'd get the 4870 with a new system if I were you and you will be surprised how well it does......save some money....you really don't need to overclock as you really don't gain as much as you may think......it damages the system longterm
