Hey all,
Trying to figure out what components will I need to run AoC in full detail in that res. I know that i should wait for 280s, and thats fine as my current computer has 3870 in it which should do ok until new cards come out next month or so. I have vista ultimate, and I want to use that on the new build, I also have 2x150g raptor x in my current pc(which still has 939).
At the moment AoC runs with about 7 fps.....now what could we build to up that to lets say 30-40, maybe even more. Money is no issue until we start hitting numbers above $5k, I also already have samsung 30" lcd.
All help is greatly appreciated.
-Brad

Edit. I forgot to mention that i already have a mouse, keyboard, speakers, microphone and a pc power 1000w powers supply too. I could also re-use my thermaltake armor series full tower pc case. I would also like to have a sound card that has optical or coaxial output as instead of pc speakers I'm using full Klipsch s-2 surround system.

EDIT.

Before i place an order I would like someone to check this for me, I decided on new power supply as power pc one that I have is very loud.

2 x nvidias 280 when they're released.

Will this do ok? Anyone seeing any problems with this setup?
Thanks a lot for all help!

Well there are alot of rigs listed in this section of the forums and most have been critiqued by tons of people. Anyhow, for a video card the 8800GT OC is a good start, cpu E8800 for gaming because Quad core will not do much more for you right now as far as gaming goes. You can get 4gb of DDR2 800 for 100 bucks and OC' it to 1066. Other then that just a quality PSU like corsair and whatever else you want in the thing.

^ wrong... 8800 GT OC will not run AoC at 2560 by 1600... simply not plausible....

get a quad core... it may not give any major benefit now... but it certainly will in about a year...

i'm not sure evil panda read your post... but I'd recommend getting 2 of teh best cards taht come out in a couple months and getting a quad core such as the q9770... or if you wanna save about 1000 (I recommend saving) then get the q9450...

and maybe 4 gigs of fast ddr2... you don't need super fast ram...

I doubt you'll go over 3000 with your build even with 2 of the fastest and newest gpus....

PS.... gonna be a sick rig when u get it running =D

QX9650 + Thermalright 120 Ultra oc'ed to 4.0Ghz + EVGA 790i board + 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz Super talent RAM + 2 GTX 280 in SLI :ouch:

that's about 3.5k I suppose
this rig will laugh at AoC even at 2560x1600

yay lets throw money around wildly, but it looks pretty good, i doubt you need that much power an there are better sound cards, look at other brands than creative, but if you go creative also look at the x-fi platinum
