Neither drive shows up anywhere on puter but they do open & close. They were fitted by techs so no problem there. My puter is new & has vista.

Solution evongugg Sep 16, 2009 Check the data cable. PATA or SATA? Make sure they are recognized in the bios. Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
