I have 2 dvd drives fitted & they both worked fine, untill yesterday when h.d. had to be reformatted.
Neither drive shows up anywhere on puter but they do open & close.
They were fitted by techs so no problem there.
My puter is new & has vista.

Check the data cable.
PATA or SATA?
Make sure they are recognized in the bios.
