"prc" and "pdb" don't necessarily mean a "book" format. They are just
extensions for any kind of Palm resource or Palm database and used by
many programs.
As far as I know Palmreader can only read Books in its own PalmReader
format or the generic Palm-DOC format. Are you sure your 'prc' files
are in one of those formats?
If not, you have to install the application that can deal with them.

Betcha have a mobipocket format file... go looking for Mobipocket reader.
Not a bad utility to have on one's palm (it's one of my 6 or 7 readers that
stay on the palm).
