Bad CPU or Mobo?

I just finished building a PC with an e8500 and a maximus II formula, I wanted to run prime95 just for a few hours out of curiosity with everything set at auto in the mobo before I started to OC. Problem is I can't even go an hour before one of the cores gets an error! Is there a problem with the hardware? Temps never got past 51C in Real Temp.

Is your RAM set to 1066MHz in BIOS? This may need doing manually. Also (stating the obvious!) make sure all mobo drivers are installed and updated.....

Yes with 4gb of gksill 1066mhz ram, all bios settings are on auto except ram speed and the voltage on the ram upped to 2.01, (its rated for 1.9 - 2.1)

Ran Memtest86 for a couple hours - ran through all test rounds at least twice, no errors at all.

I'll try again after mem voltage is around 2.1 and repost.

Is it really safe to overvolt memory like that?

Thanks guys keep recommendations coming.

Cranked up the voltage for the ram to 2.0912 - Closest I could get to 2.1 without going over.

Results are worse

Within 2 Minutes I got a fatal error on the second core.

:heink: :pfff:

hellllllp.
