I can OC my processor 3% with Award BIOS AI OC utility giving me 3.3ghz from 3.2ghz woo hoo... But, if I go to 5% my processor speed drops to 1ghz, becomes unstable, and I get the BSOD before long.

AMD 6400+ X2 3.3ghz
Asus M2N-SLI
Nvidia GeForce 8600gt 1gb
GeiL Black Dragon 8gb (4 x 2gb)
Windows 7 (Build 7068)

Hmmm... make sure that you're not accidentally overclocking your RAM at the same time - that can easily cause instability if you haven't bought RAM specifically designed for OCing. Also, make sure that your voltages are not too low.

Yeah get a copy of cpuz so you can see your voltage.
On mine I had to up the voltage .03v because the voltage would drop that much under a full load.
It doesnt sound like much but made all of the difference.

Also here is a pretty decent prog to test your overclock that shows the voltages while it is working.
It is the one I used to find the voltage reduction.

BTW I have the AMD 5600 X2 so there are some similarities

AMD Cool & Quiet is off, one of the first things I do on an AMD setup. I've currently switched to a Gigabyte board which seems to perform better than the ASUS board. Thank you all for your help and replies. The ASUS board is now my tech computer, no need to overclock there...
