I am planning on buying the GTX 280 when it comes out. I would like some advice, though, on what other parts would compliment it best without wasting money. I was thinking to buy the evga 790i mobo, 4gb ddr3 1333, core 2 quad q9450, and put it all into an antec 900. By the way, I already have a Thermaltake Toughpower 850w PSU. Anyone have experience/advice about these components?

DDR3 is a complete waste of money. nVidia's Intel chipsets are not very good at all either. The 790i has been borderline terrible with data loss problems with overclocked among other issues.

Get this instead:

4GB DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 RAM
X38/X48 chipset motherboard like Asus P5E
If you are mainly gaming pick up an E8400 over a quad core, otherwise Q9300 or Q6600 for max overclock.
1200 case, 900 is tight.

nVidia came out with some hybrid power mobos for AMD.

I bet they will have new boards out for intel soon.

maybe DDR3 will be cheaper then too.

I cant think your going to SLI the 280 off the batt, so pick up a cheaper and otherwise better non SLI board with DDR2 and change your board and memory in the not too distant future.
