Having had my Clie stolen during a burglary I have just received a
replacement from the insurance company.

I have hot synced and the applications and internal data have all re
appeared :-)

Unfortunately the memory stick remains empty. No music files or fotos etc
that were directly (from clie applications) stored there.

Where are they backed up on my main computer? Or does the card data not
automatically get backed up by hot sync?

Thanks Steve.

Glad to hear that you got the TH55 replaced despite it being discontinued. I
just put mine under extended warranty in case of a mishap.

I'm afraid that the card data is not backed up on hotsync. I think you're going to
have to reconvert the files and move them over again. Once you've done that
you should then be able to use the Sony software to mount your Memory Stick
as a removable drive on the PC and just copy everything into a backup folder
on your PC but of course you then need to remember to refresh that backup
whenever you change the contents of the Memory Stick.

Thanks.

I thought this was going to be the answer, more a warm-sync than hot-sync,
especially since the clie can save "internal" data directly onto the card.

A bit of a bug me thinks!

Just to let all those people who religiously do a hot-sync to back up
their data........ BACKUP your memory stick separately!
