After reading the memory sticky. I have 4 memory slots. I know i can put my 2x512mb xms2 pair in one channel and then place a 2x1gb xms2 pair in another channel. My question is this.... should i put the 1GB sticks in the 1 and 3 slots and the 512mb sticks in the 2 and 4 slots or vise versa ? Or does this matter at all ?

It shouldn't make a difference. If I were you I would just put the 1GB sticks in slots 1 and 3, the other two in 2 and 4. If for some reason the system doesn't want to POST after you do that, then try a different order.

most mobo's are color coded. Put the largest chips in 1 & 3 (say blue) and the smaller chips in 2 & 4 (say white)

as long as the same size ram sticks are paired up on the separate channels it wont matter. mix the sticks and you might loose some performance or they might have some issues.
