Dear All,

I am planning to upgrade my present computer.

I have already narrowed down on the following components:

Processor - Intel C2D E8400

Memory - 4 GB/ 2GB

Graphic card - 8800 GT

I would be grateful if you can help me shortlist a suitable motherboard for my configuration.

I would like a mid range motherboard. Please note I would not be over clocking any of my hardware components.

Thanks & Regards,
Paul

If your going DDR3 I would suggest 790i XFX. or the 780i if you plan to stay with DDR2.

2x 2gigs Patriot PC8500 @1066
EVGA 780i
2x EVGA 8800GTX SLI

BTW I know you won't overlock. But the E8400 OWNS at OCing.

I would not be overclocking my rig. I just need a decent rig which would run my pc games with minimum upgrades for the next 1-2 years.

That's why I am planning for :

Processor - E8400

CPU cooling - CM Sphere (RR-CCZ-LL12-GP)

M/b - Asus P5Q Pro

Graphic card - 8800GT

RAM - 2-4 GB (800MHz - DDR2)

SMPS - Cooler Master 650W (already bought) - Good power!

Cabinet - (already bought) Zebronics (Bijli - 1* 120 MM forward fan, 2*80MM side fans) - I have space for one more 120 MM fan in the back, I think I would be fixing that too just to be sure.

I think this should suffice, but then again there is always room for improvement and new ideas!

So do suggest changes/ improvements.

Good selection. Be sure to get 4 gigs or as much as you plan to use in the future cuz when Nehalem is rolled out next month, ddr2 prices may start to go up. ddr3 prices is under 100 bucks for 2 gigs. was over $200 months ago.
