Help with second hard drive

when i hook up my second hard drive (internal) some time while playing games it freezes for a few Seconds,you can here it reading the drive, that's when it freezes, is it suposterd to read the drive for no aparent reason like that

Your disk is probably set to save energy and spin down when its not in use. Your game is asking for information from the disk or the OS may just be verifiying all the devices attached to it in the background. This doesn't happen to your first hard drive because your game is probably running on it along with the OS. It probably rarely, if ever, spins down.
