Booting problems???

hey, a friend of mine has purchased some new equipment,
a dg43nb mobo
e7300 cpu
160g hdd

trying to install a fresh copy of xp pro on the new hdd but cant get to boot from cd
it just come up with the big intel picture and that disappears to a blank screen
where the system beeps once and nothing happens after that.
i have tried all boot menu in bios, tried different dvd rom drives ect
it dont even come up with" INSERT BOOT DISK AND RESTART"

any help much appreciated, (also is there a way to get rid of the intel pic on start up tried looking in bios but no luck)

Is the CD-Rom IDE or SATA?
Try an IDE drive if you have SATA or boot from a floppy disk and then access the CD-Rom.
Does the CD-Rom show in the bios.
If IDE you could have a bad channel.

have tried ide and sata, both show in bios liken normal, it just never reaches the press any key to boot from cd..
this is a new hdd so booting from a floppy i can not see how this would help

I presume you have set in the Bios to boot from whatever DVD/CD drive you are using first in the boot sequence. If so try a different OS DVD.

cheers for the help. turned out bios was not saving and kept trying to load the hdd. cheers for the help guys
