More about headers
  1. You can buy a USB PCI card with 4 USB ports.
  2. no, i actualy need headers not ports.
  3. Sorry, is this what you are looking for?

    KINGWIN 13" USB 2.0 / IEEE 1394 4F / IEEE 1394 6F Bracket Cable Model ESAC-03 - Retail

  4. no, i need to explain myself better, my motherboard has 2 usb headers, my case has 4 usb ports which use up all the headers, this then stops me from connecting my internal card reader, i need another header on my board to connect the card reader to.

    thanks for your help.
  5. The southbridge of a motherboard can only support a limited number of components. You can't add more headers. Besides, were you planning on soldering them on yourself and linking them to the southbridge?
  6. i thought there might be some kind of pci card with them.
  7. So go to newegg, type "internal usb port" into the Search field, and hit "Go"...
  8. there are lots of cards with internal usb ports but not headers
  9. He wants to convert the PCI lane into USB headers for his card reader. He doesn't have anywhere to attach the USB port leads on his card reader. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. I think you might have to settle for a regular PCI card with USB ports.
  10. Or, just order an adaptor cable. You may have to route the cable from the outside to the inside, but try this:

    http://www.frontx.com/store/order_a.html

It's the fourth one down the page. A little long, but it is what you're after.
  11. Just found this. It has the headers on the card. You can see them if you look at the enlarged picture.

  12. So type "usb header", and find this one:

Says it's got a USB header or regular port (can't use both at the same time).

Or this one, which has same sort of configuration, but SATA ports as well, if that's useful to you:

    Or this one:
