usb headers

hi all,

does any one know if it is posible to add more usb headers to a motherbard, at the moment i have 2 which support 2 devices/ports each but need another one,

any help would be greatly appreciated,

no, i need to explain myself better, my motherboard has 2 usb headers, my case has 4 usb ports which use up all the headers, this then stops me from connecting my internal card reader, i need another header on my board to connect the card reader to.

The southbridge of a motherboard can only support a limited number of components. You can't add more headers. Besides, were you planning on soldering them on yourself and linking them to the southbridge?

So go to newegg, type "internal usb port" into the Search field, and hit "Go"...

there are lots of cards with internal usb ports but not headers

He wants to convert the PCI lane into USB headers for his card reader. He doesn't have anywhere to attach the USB port leads on his card reader. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. I think you might have to settle for a regular PCI card with USB ports.

Or, just order an adaptor cable. You may have to route the cable from the outside to the inside, but try this:

Says it's got a USB header or regular port (can't use both at the same time).
