So I bought a cheap MSI P6N Platinum on Ebay. It has many parts that are not installed; in fact, the second PCIe x16 slot is not there. that's OK, I wasn't going to do SLI anyway. This is a budget machine. It works fine and does what I need it to do. The seller did not mislead; he said it was an OEM version with some stuff not there.
So the interesting thing is that the BIOS is a Fujitsu-Siemens BIOS. My guess is that MSI builds motherboards for Fujitsu-Siemens, and for some reason or another, there is a surplus that someone is trying to get rid of. Does anybody here know about this? Which Fujitsu system has this motherboard? It looks and works like a P6N Platinum; it even has "P6N Platinum" on the silk screen. I also posted a BIOS question in the BIOS forum, but I though I would post here too just to make sure.
thanks,
Carl
