Realtek hd rear output audio device

pc says no audio device installed. this happened after reinstall of windows xp help

If you have not yet installed the RealTek drivers from the motherboard CD, do so. RealTek will want you to restart the computer, do it. Attach you speaker(s), and XP should find them after reboot.

Drivers from the CD are sometimes outdated. You may want to visit the motherboard manufacturer's website, to make sure you get the newest driver.

Thank you Treefrog but I finally stumbled onto a fix but not sure how I did it!
