Hi Folks,

I am attempting to build my first computer and I'm slowly working through the technicality of how to do so. I am particularly confused on what type of DDR2 RAM to get my machine. Here are the relevant components:

Mobo
ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131299

Processor
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115017

Video Card
ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814121253

Am I better off with:

Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820220269

OR

Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820220315

I don't really understand how to compare RAM with different speed and cas latency. Thanks!

Personally i would get the 800mhz at C4, first reason its cheaper, second reason its generally more compatible and third you wont notice the difference with the 1066mzh stuff real work speed wise.

Then it would make a bigger difference because of that integrated memory controller.

Agreed, DDR2 800.

I agree with chookman, but I'd say that getting RAM that runs at stock voltages is even better.

And for less money (AR).
