Error performing inpage operation hard drive

Hi Everyone, I have a problem with a laptop hard drive not able to read. I have attached it to a PCMCIA slot drive reader which I have attach to another laptop and I keep getting a ERROR PERFORMING INPAGE OPERATION, even in DOS. Does anyone have an idea how I can recover any of the data on this drive. The drive is an old 40 GB Fujisu.

There are physical problems wit the hard disk. It may be about to fail.
