DIMM = dual inline memory module. That's actually the memory stick itself, not the slot.

PCI isn't the slot either though.

Well if your using DDR2 memory the slot would be called a DDR2 module slot officially or DDR2 slot for short. SD-RAM would use a SD-RAM module slot. I'm sure your getting the idea by now :p

jeez, gentlemen, no need to get on the noobie that hard. At least he's not spouting off misinformation like half the people on these forums.

OP: whatever cjl said. Also, Google is your friend. Hey, it's even a verb now.

well, i have some idea to your question.

DIMM is a type of RAM slots and PCI is a type of expansion slots
i remember that there are three types of RAM slot,
They are SIMM, DIMM, and RIMM.
-SIMM slot use for SIMM Ram (old version)
-DIMM slot uses for SDRAM and DDR Ram (DDR1,DDR2....)
-RIMM slot uses for Rambus RAM

And about Expansion Slot, there are three types.
-ISA
-PCI
-AGP (for Video card only)
