Hey guys! I need some help with my first build and I have to tell you that I'm a little scared about it though. Can any one provide me a good set up so I can guide my self in this process, I am trying to do a little be of everything am not trying to go with the highest end PC but something up there. I want to do some gaming, music, fast internet, watch and burn blue ray movies, CD's, watch TV, record live TV like Tivo and DVR, overclok, good surround system and school work. I have some ideas I have been doing a lot of reasearch and I don't know if I am on the right track. I have a budget of $1800. Thanks for your help.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130159

Memory: A-Data 4gb ddr2 800 cas4
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211282

Hard Drive: WD 300gb velociraptor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136260&Tpk=velociraptor

PSU: Corsair 750tx
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&Tpk=750tx

Monitor: KDS 24in
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824155054

Video Card: 2x 9800gtx
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500037

Dvd: Samsung 22x dvd
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151171

~1830

and whatever case suits your fancy and vista 64 i hope
i left out speakers mouse keyboard if you dont have those just say so

My recommendations:

Q6600
P35-DS3x (ie DS3L); P5K
Corsair 550/520 or PP&C 610
2GB+ DDR2 800 from good manufacture like Corsair,Crucial,Patriot,wtc (DDR2 1066 has issues)
7200.11 HDD
8800GT/ (G92)8800GTS

any case, DVD,etc you want

Total: ~800-1.1k

You won't need SLI unless playing at 1600*1200 or higher with high detail. You won't notice much gain from a VelociRaptor.

I am sorry guys for my ingnorance but what do you guys mean by saying that I wont need SLI. Do the cases have to be SLI ready or can any case do the job.

Shadow has recommended an excellent build...go for it.

Regarding SLI, if you're going to play games at less than 1600 resolution you don't need it. Single cards give a great performance at res less than 1600.

Not cases, but motherboards have to be SLI ready. Any good roomy case with 120mm fan will do the job.

If you're not in a hurry and can wait a month you'd get the latest Radeon 4870 GPU which is very promising.

software should come with the card, as for the video card, yes this takes video and tv but you need something else to spit it back out
