HP Laptop went out of sleep mode and logged in by itself.

My mother sometimes leaves her laptop on and eventully goes into sleep mode during the nights. Well it was about 3 in the morning and I heard the computer start up and logged in by itself. I got up to turn it off though ( Ill remind you I was half asleep) I went over the start icon and it wouldn't let me click. A window popped up in the left corner and said would you like to end this process. Deciding not to deal with it I decided to close the thing and unplug it. Well here's the thing Im not sure if someone had accessed the thing from another computer ( If that is possible) I recently put wiped the computer and used the hp factory image. The laptop would be at 100% cpu idle. Im not sure if someone would be accessing the via remote connect.

While possible, it is unlikely that someone was accessing the system. More likely is that the system was updating itself (Windows Update). Check your Windows Update settings in Control Panel.
