Any minute now. This is the most excitement non-release I have ever seen. What an amazing marketing parade - this is better than Computex - and way more interesting than those "babe pix".
When I was a kid it was like "did Santa come yet"?
I think they pushed it up a bit... that and newegg is probably one of the BIGGESTS sellers of enthusiast/gamer type parts... why not let them get out massive shipments a little early? Personally i'm waiting for the 3870. I just read a news article ( http://www.tomshardware.com/news/A [...] ,5728.html ) saying that the 4870 should launch this week, AND to boot... possibly "get caught up in the..." crossfire with my 3870. :-p
On a side note, same size memory, and ggdr3 vs gddr5, will this affect interoperability? Guess I'll just have to wait till a few thousand people try it to find out.

It was my understanding the 4850 and the 4870 were originally both supposed to launch today. ATI moved up the date for the 4850 to last Monday which is why NewEgg has had those 4850s listed.
I also noticed the reference in that article to the ambiguous "later this week"
I'm thinking we'll see some 4870s for sale this afternoon.
If anyone has a link to conflicting information I'd love to see it.
hmm, interesting pictograph, but the june 25th date set for 4850 has already been found to be false... i think this graph is old... they may also not be hard announcing it to try and keep up with demand, there was note of a possible shortage of gddr5.

I would love to get my hands on an HD4870 today, but it looks like we should expect it between the 25 of June and July 8. Those two dates have been very prominent for this card.
That pic is wrong because the 4850 smokes the 9800GTX and the 4870 creams the GT260. Therefore R700 will pwn 9800GX2 (which beats GT280 in most benchmarks) and claim the performance crown.
Looks like I'm going to have to tighten my belt and OC my poor outperformed 8800GT.
