When ever i open hl2 epiosde 2, some objects like desks chairs rocks are dim and grey. So, what should i do in order to fix this problem.

Maybe that is their color? Try taking a screen shot so we can help you more. Try updating your video card drivers.

Well I have a service pack 2 XP professional version, when I used XP service pack 1 last year in HL2 EP. 1 it worked, but now I dont have the xp sp1 system which I dont even have,

CONTINUED... HL2 ep.2 has another problem as well like when Alyx speaks, her lips don't move. here is an image of the dim objects...

Try reinstalling the game....and make sure your using the newest Video driver Catalyst if you have an ATI card or Forceware if you have an Nvidia card

When i first installed that game it more or less insisted i update the drivers and when i did it acctually made the game look worse. I ended up having to go back a couple of drivers to get one that worked properly. My issues did include the lack of lip movement and i could see the wire frames in peoples heads.

Well, I dont no how to update the drivers, please tell me how. However, I have an ATI card which I bought 3 years ago. This poblem occurs only in HL2 Ep. 1 and 2 and probably HL2. When I used windows xp service pack 1 the problem was not there until I use Windows XP service pack 2. Unfortunately, I dont have an xp service pack 1 here
Well where are the VGA drivers? Please explain in details step by step so I can fix he problem.

1_Right Click on desktop >>> Properties>>> Choose the "Settings" Tab>>> under the "Display" You will see the model of your VGA
For example mine is NVIDIA GEFORCE 8800GTX

2_Another way is this:
Click on Start>>>Run>>>Type: "Dxdiag">>>Choose the Display tab>>> And you will see your VGA name in front of "Name"
