I cant see icons on my start menu how to resolve this problem

Well I cant see the icons in my start menu like that of RUN and also of CONTROL PANEL. And icons of some files extensions are also not appearing normally instead of that a blank page icon appears for every missing icon. please help me....... Please......Please.
