All my parts are picked out.

E8500, BFG GTX280, 4g ram,

But I can't decide on motherboard, I'm ok w/ getting ddr2 800, but it would be nice if I had a mobo for ddr2 1066.

My friend recommended the evga 780i, its good, except that I read it has a lot of problems, and I really want to minimize my problems. I also won't be 3 way sli'ing. I will however Dual SLI in the future.

I was looking at the evga 750i for this reason. Would that be an ok buy, or do my parts call for a different motherboard choice?

Also if you do suggest a motherboard, could you also suggest the ram that is known to be compatible with it?

Thanks.

the 750i has 2 x 16 and ddr2 1066 standard at newegg. How much better is the 780i really if you never use the tri sli feature?

apparently not that much, there's a few missing features, but not anything critical. I think I'll go with the 750i. Since I'll never tri sli. I hope I don't get a defunct board though. I think the newer ones should be more stable.

I found out that 750i has pci x16, however 780i has pci 2.0, yet ironically the 780i FTW has pci x16 again. And if we skip to the 790i ultra it also has pci 2.0.

I read that pci 2.0 doesn't make much of a difference, so I believe getting a pci 1 motherboard is ok, even if I'll be using a pci 2.0 video card.
