i have just replaced my ide hdd with a sata one i installed xp to the sata drive then booted windows from the ide drive and transfered the data to the sata drive then i rebooted into xp on the sata drive and completed setting it up and all worked well then i removed and wiped the ide drive to use it somewhere else but then wen i rebooted the computer it wouldn't even try and boot from the sata hdd does anyone know what the problem could be i have already tried repairing windows twice without any luck thanx
What is the error message, "no boot device" or something like that?

Boot to the CD recovery console and type fixmbr. The link is to fix the MBR that was taken over by grub when installing linux, but I believe the same problem can occur with NTloader. Give it a try you have nothing to loose. I had the same problem when I installed Vista RC1 and then removed it, so depending on how you did the installing it may work.
Zorg is right. fixmbr fixes alot of problems. I always use it when recovering from GRUB bootloader crap. Also, make sure you're booting from the right partition/drive.
