I have a DVD/CD -RW drive (HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-44828) which i use in burning CD-RW conveniently. But last week I wanted to burn on my DVD - RW plate but the DVD/CD drive did not even detect the DVD- RW plate. I bought two other DVD plates yet it did not detect them. But whenever i put CD-RW plate the drive recognizes and burn conveniently. kindly advice me on what to do. What might be the cause and what will i do to correct this problem because i need to burn the DVD urgently.

It may not be a DVD burner, only a CD burner. It will read DVDs, but not burn them. Check with Everest or another hardware identifying program.
