Hi,
Here's my problem: last night I ran cpuz and noticed that my pci-e link width is at x8 but x16 is supported. I have been searching around for a solution to this problem, but have yet to find one. I've tried increasing my pci-e frequency in the bios to 101, 105, and 110 MHz with no effect. Also tried reinstalling latest nvidia drivers after oc'ing cpu with no luck. My mobo only has one pci-e x16 slot, so its not an sli issue or anything. Apparently this is a common problem with my mobo, but I have yet to read about anyone solving it.

My system: AMD Athlon 6000+, Biostar NF61S-M2 TE, 2GB G. Skill DDR2 800, XFX GeForce 8600gt XXX, 200GB Maxtor SATA HDD, 450W Raidmax PSU.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have the latest BIOS?

I suspect your MB uses the single-chip GeForce 6100 + nForce 405 combination or similar, which only supports x8 on the PCIexpress graphics slot. Low-end MBs often have such compromises, but I don't think it'll have a big effect on your current graphics card.

Well, it says in cpuz that x16 is the max supported link width. Also says in the mobo manual that its pci-e x16. But i'm guessing you're probably right. It really doesn't have much effect, though. I have the same card in my other computer, which is an ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe, and when I play Call of Duty 4 on either rig, I can't really see much of a difference.
