I've lost access to my slave HDD after a defrag (win 2000, pentium II, 400Mhz). When I try to access it. I get the following message : disk in drive D is not formatted, format now YES/NO. My D drive already has some known bad sectors on it. How can I regain access to it so that I can recover the data on it.
I 'VE TRIED TO DIFFERENT RECOVERY UTILITIES BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING. MY D: DRIVE NAME WAS Maxtor_20Gig, NOW IT WRITTEN D: (local drive). IS THERE A ULTILITY/SOFTWARE THAT COULD HELP RECOGNIZE IT. HELP !!!

I would get a hard drive utility/recovery program to pull the data off before any more damage is done to the data. There are plenty of free ones that work good.
During the defrag it probably moved some important FAT info to a bad sector.
