Just got my Intel X25-M G2 and..

..I got it in a 1.8" version instead of the 2.5" one. Is there any performance difference? It's so tiny!!
I don't wanna unpack it until I know whether or not there is a difference.

Also, using Windows 7, the whole TRIM thing should be ready to go, right?

As long as it's a G2 (I didn't think they made an X18-M G2 yet, but I might be wrong), there shouldn't be any difference.

Intel will be releasing a firmware update to support TRIM on the G2 drives, supposedly when Windows 7 officially launches on Oct 22.

Well the product code is SSDSA2MH080G2R5, the G2 leads me to think it is a G2, and that is also what I ordered

So the point is that you're not ready for TRIM quite yet - you'll need to download and install the firmware update when it's released.

I mentioned that it applies to G2 drives because no such update is planned for the G1 (last year's model) drives. Those who have Intel X-25 "G1" drives won't be able to take advantage of TRIM.
