my problem is that i have the iceq3 3870 turbo edition and it is clocked to 850
and because for the many issues i face with this card(vpu massages )crashes freezes
while playing heavy games (call of duty crysis ,Grid)
i did all the things related to driver (cleaning,reinstalling)

so decided to underclocked the card to referenced clocked (777)
and yes i can play with a stable smooth Fps

, but why the card start to heat up when i began to lower the clocks and booth Gpu and the memory

Perhaps there is too much thermal paste on the GPU. The people who assemle these cards don't take much care when they apply the thermal paste, and quite often there is too much used which traps heat. Remove the cooler and clean up the thermal paste, then reapply some decent stuff that you (hopefully) have lying around.

I've got mine 3870 at 800... no crashes.
So if you'll still have those crashes.. I suggest checking out everything that's happening in da case - temps airflow...

maybe reinstalling OS...

and Check ur PSU.. ur PSU may say it's 500 watt
but trust me.. it's allways less than that....

search for the "PSU tier list"

I had mine card crashing with an 450 watt noname psu

With Rivatuner you can manually regulate the speed of the fan or put it at 100% speed all the time.

I suspect that when the clock speed is manually changed, the video card never downclocks to 2D mode when there is low usage. So I think using Rivatuner to turn on the fan 100% will work.

If the 'crashing' consists of the display freezing/going black with blocks appearing on parts of the screen, then the problem is with PowerPlay.

Open up CCC, go to the overclock settings and enable it. Go and create a profile, save and activate it then go to:

C:\Documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\ati\ace\profiles\profile name

open up the .xml in wordpad and change the bolded bits to what they are.

<Feature name="FanSpeedAlgorithm_1">
<Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value="Manual" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedRPMTarget_1">
<Property name="Want" value="0" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedPercentTarget_1">
<Property name="Want" value="40" />

That should cool it to 48-50 degrees.

search how to disable powerplay in the same .xml file
