I'm trying to build a modest 16TB SAN without a dedicated server.
Does anyone know if I can run two separate computers into one E-class RAID device directly by fibre channel? I know I can attach ONE computer to the RAID directly but I'm not sure about adding the second. Will a fibre channel switch be required? Obviously adding a separate server and SAN administration software would solve the problem... for an extra $4000.
Just to add to the mix (for all you Apple haters), the workstations are MacPro towers running OS 10.6 going into a Promise V-Trak SATA RAID unit.
