I wanted to know which jumper combination works when setting an IDE DVD drive with an IDE HDD on the same IDE ribbon?

Do I set the HDD as master and the DVD drive as slave? The other way around? or does it even matter which one is master and which one is slave, as long as one is master and the other is slave?

thx

Although it should work either way, I'd set the HDD as master and the DVD as slave. Having both on the same cable may slow down your hard drive access whenever the DVD drive is being accessed.

Thx!...I my cabling setup would only work with the DVD drive being the master and the hdd being the slave...but it worked....but I think you're right about the hdd slowing down because of the dvd drive...
