c000021a fatal error

So, I'm helping my friend build his computer. We got all the parts in, and it boots, but when we attempt to install the OS, which is MS Vista 64bit, we get a c000021a fatal error . I looked up this error, and it comes back as a registry error, but the hard drive is brand new. Here are the system specs:

Q6600
4 GB of Wintec Dual Channel RAM
500 GB WD HDD
DFI BloodIron P35 Motherboard

I already attempted the install with just one stick of RAM, and I still got the same error. Could the HDD be DOA?

1 - try xp 32-bit.

2 - up vdimm to 2.1v or specs.

3 - remove all but 1 stick of ram. memtest it. install vista. update vista. install the rest of sticks. memtest it.

4 - if nothing helps, ask these guys. I'm hearing quite an increasing # of no-boot issues with DFI. Not sure if it's bios related.
