I am using TextMaker on my HPC Jornada 720. Every once and a blue moon
I print or try to print a document directly from it, without having to
serial port the files to my laptop, and then copy them to floppy disk
and insert into my Mac to print. As you know the above is somewaht time
consuming, but it works flawlessly. last school year I printed hundreds
of pages using this method.
Well today I tried to print to the HP laser printer in the library, but
I kept on receiving this error message "The printer could not be
found...." I tried to print 3 more times and the message repeated. I
even rebooted my HPC and still the message repeated. The printer lights
showed on the printer, but it would not print. I am thinking that
perhaps the network admins have disabled the IR port on the printer,
what do you say? Its not like many people print from their HPC's, Palms
or PocketPC's. I only know of one other student who had a HPC, and I'm
not even sure she dumped it for a laptop. Some students may have
Palm's/PPC's, but they most likely only use it for syncing, and then
print from their desktops. Its obvious that PDA's were not designed for
this sort of thing, and a reason why IR printing has died.
Thanks..
John
