Hi,

I have an ATT DSL/modem/router with four ports. Four computers directly connected from router & networked. The other day, I got a new DirectTV receiver/DVR. Found out I could connect it to the internet to download movies. Got out a Microsoft MN-100 router that I have so that I could connect one computer and the DVR through it to the web and to the network. No good. Both devices are online, but the computer has disappeared from the network. Is this a firewall or a port issue? If it's the firewall built in to the router, how can I disable it? I don't need it. I don't have the CD that came with the router, but I know where to download the software if necessary.

If you're connecting using Ethernet (RJ45 connectors) then don't touch the stupid CDs they always give you.

Factory reset mn-100 router. Redo the passwords. Go into the setup and turn off DHCP - essentially making it into a switch.

I'm afraid I don't know how to do these things. Factory re-set? If it had password(s), I have no idea what they were, it's never asked for one. Do you know were the setup is? I can't find it. I believe the unit was just auto detected, so if there's a program I don't know. I'll look around though. Thanks.
