What is a safe starting point to OC my Phenom II x3 720 and my Memory? Just so I have a referance point. Everything is stock now. And should I be using the AI tweaker or the Turbo V?
Asus M4A79T Deluxe
AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE
Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
1 TB Seagate Baracuda
Vista 64Bit
Nvidia Geforce GTX 285
Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1
Heatsink is ZALMAN CNPS9700
There is a pretty good primer on Phenom overclocking on this website. Its clocked at 2.8 Ghz so I would change the multiplier for 3.0 Ghz operation first. then I would increase by half steps until reaching instability, then back down one step.
Then decide if you want to mess with voltages, NB speed, HT, etc.
I hope you have a decent cooler, otherwise I wouldn't do much with it.
and watch your temps.
I am uncertain if your system can use AMD's "overdrive" software. It might though, try it. It won't run without supported software so it's no big deal to install it.
Yup Overdrive came with my MB software. what are some numbers i should be watching for, for heat? And do you think i can get the memory to do better than
9-9-9-27?
