Hello, I have done a full system back up of my C: drive onto a second drive D: on the same computer. How do I create a bootable disk so I can recover my system on a new replacement for C;

you could just connect the new drive while the old one is still connected and use the disk image software.
what manufacturer are the old and new drive?
