Ive read alot of the reboot issues here on the board for the last week or so, my problem is slightly different that most I have read and wanted to get a few opinions before I start throwing money at new parts.

I built my machine in April

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Gigabyte EP35 DS3R
4 Gig Crucial Ballistix ram (2x2)
MSI 8800 GTS 512
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA
Antec 900
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (Red) 750W EPS12V Power Supply
Vista 64 Home Premium

System ran fine until a week ago, apparently there was a storm around my home while I was at work and there was a lightning strike near my house.

Since then I've had issue with the cycling reboots. When I turn my PC on post seems fine no obvious issue all fans/led's power up just fine, just before the windows splash screen would come up the PC reboots, this process repeats continuously.

I tried booting from Vista install CD just incase the HD was gone but the system reboots before it gets that far, ive pulled the ram since I have been reading that the model of Crucial ram I have has been giving some trouble, I put some generic Adata ram in my machine and have the same issue, put the crucial ram in another machine and it booted fine.

Im guessing its either a busted powersupply or motherboard, I have flashed the DS3r bios to the most recent F3 to see if I had a corrupted bios. No change there. Sadly I dont have a spare powersupply laying around to test in the machine, no other components plugged into the same surge protector have shown any adverse affects since the storm.

With the seemingly common reboot issues going around today its possible the storms timing is coincidence, but since the PC ran fine for 4 months leads me to believe otherwise.

Before I order a new moboard or PSU from newegg wanted to get some opinions from you guys as to which component is more likely the cause.

*Forgot to mention I do not overclock, this happens with Optimized defaults in bios, I went in and upped the DRAM voltage from 1.9 to 2.0 to 2.1 to 2.2 to test since the memory is supposedly rated at 2.2v, I tried each setting but did not help the reboot issue.

All the voltage indicators in the bios also seem to show CPU/PCI-E slots are all getting their proper voltages from the PSU

Thanks in advance for any info

It sounds like your PSU is crapping out on you.... Could you yank out the PSU from your other system, install it into this system, and see if this corrects the issue.

If that doesn't help it sounds like it is probably your mobo.
