Had identical problem last few days and found an easy solution on the Microsoft site.
Do the following:
Go to start menu. Select "All Programs". Select "Accessories". Right click on "Command Prompt".
Choose "Run as Administrator".
When command box appears type in : sfc/scannow and then press enter.
In my case, the verification process started immediatedly and took about 15 mins to complete. I then got a message saying "windows Resource Protection found corrupted files and successfully repaired them".
I had to reboot my computer for changes to take affect.
Problem seems to have been solved.
Good luck.
