Hello all. After many RMA's and then a step-up, I finally got my computer running for about three weeks now. I have my Q6600 OC'd to 3Ghz and my system is 99.99% stable. However, if I try to take it above this, my video doesn't boot. The system doesn't give me an error (EVGA 750i FTW Mobo. It beeps when it fails to post.) but the monitor simply doesn't boot. When I set everything back, it works fine. I've tried changing the multiplier to get the FSB to 1600 and the CPU to 2.8 which did allow my computer to boot up, but crashed seconds after vista booted up, so I didn't try that again. Any help in finding the source of this problem would be appreciated.

Relevant System Specs:

Q6600 @ 3.0GGhz 1333 FSB
4Gb 1066 ram
EVGA GTX 285
EVGA 750i SLI FTW

Note: I'm using aftermarket cooling on the CPU. It temperature wise, it runs fine, so that's not the issue.

What voltages are you using? What temps are you getting? What frequency are you runnning your RAM at with that overclock?
What do you mean your monitor doesnt boot?

Sorry for the slow reply. I messed with voltages a little, but don't remember if I ever increased them past what was needed for 3Ghz. My temperature is about 33-38c, depending on the core. Memory is still running at 1066.

EDIT: Monitor doesn't wake from it's standby mode. When it's on and after twenty minutes it shuts off, that type of standby mode. That's what I mean by "doesn't boot".

try setting your ram to DDR2 800 and see if that helps.

I had the same issue when I overclocked my Q6600, but it was at around 3.7ghz. I thought it was faulty hardware but it turned out that the machine wouldn't POST because the memory clock was too high. I set my memory to Linked Synced (cant remember exactly what the setting is I'm not at home" and then proceeded to up the FSB using the auto settings. I notice you are using 1066 RAM. Try some DDR2 800mhz RAM and try going over 3GHZ. I'm guessing it will work.
