Hi all. This is my first post.

So I just purchased a HP m9340f PC.

Operating system installed
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit edition with Service Pack 1

Processor
Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6700
• 2.66GHz, 8MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz Front Side Bus

Chipset
Intel® G33 Express Chipset

Standard memory
6144 MB (2 x 2048 MB; 2 x 1024 MB) slots are full

Memory type
DDR2-SDRAM

HYNIX 2GB-2RX8 PC2-6400U-666-12 --- QTY 2
HYNIX 1GB-1RX8 PC2-6400U-666-12 --- QTY 2

Memory slots
4 DIMM (240-pin, DDR2) (occupied)

Now I just need to know if this memory is good and if it is worth taking out the 1gb simms and putting in another set of 2gb to hit my max 8GB? Should I chuck it all and get better? I think the PC is way fast for me.

thx all

8gb is a liitle overkill. what are you doing with the system?
6 gigs should be more then enough for gaming

its also a good $80 for that upgrade

HAHA thx. I am using it for internet work/office work. I only play one game with it...Urban Terror 4.1. It has a 9500 GS in it and at 1600 with max settings I hit 90 FPS and at 1280 I hit 110 FPS so I think that is ok too. I know I would need to upgrade to a 9800 GT but this is ok for now.

The only thing I hate about this PC...the stupid bright blue flashing wireless network light that never shuts of on the front pannel.

a 9500gs in it is pretty weak i would recommend to upgrade that if you wanna play more newer games. you may be able to disconnect that light if you take off the front panel and unplug it.

also dont bother getting the 9800gt i think the ati 4850 is better price/performance

i would only get a newer graphics card if you want to play newer games

Ok. About the videocard. No more ATI cards for me. Nvidia all the way.

I know the 9500 GS is weak, but 90+ frames in my game is plenty.

I purchased 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. I could not be bothered. Have a 750gb HP media drive that I backup to so I am well covered.
BTW this PC got great ratings and for $1100.00 installed with Vista Home Premium 64 bit, nothing touches it for that price.

Hi, I have the same machine (m9340f) with a nvidia PNY 9600gt , 8Gb of Ram, dual sceen ( hp 2207h ) and vista Ultimate Sp1
and the machine run any games we tried without any problem

you can find some sweet deal like a 9600gt for $99 at Compusa.com or ask your local circuitcity to price match this price ,It's what i did!
you can look at frys.com they have a kingston ddr2-6400 4Gb kit for $35 after mail in rebate

BTW: at my experience ATI 4850 cards doesn't work very well on this computeur, I don't know why but the one I tried made my screen flash all the time.....
so go with Nvidia

here are my Windows experience scores

processor: 5.9 , Ram 5.7 , Graph 5.9 , gaming 5.9 , prim hd 5.9

cheers
Alain
